MacArthur Reading
If you lose your reading log, click on the eagle to get another one!
This year, students at MacArthur will have the opportunity to participate in the MacArthur Reading program. In the past, our reading program has been called the KU Reading Program. The MacArthur Reading program is similar to the KU Reading program in that students must keep track of their own reading on a reading log. Students who complete 12-24 books during the school year receive a certificate with a silver seal. Students completing 25 books or more will receive a certificate with a gold seal. A few students who make the goal of reaching 75 or more books will receive a certificate and a MacArthur Eagle patch. We present these awards at the end of the school year.
Dr. Seuss Cafe...coming February 27th!
Every year, our library celebrates Read Across America with a Dr. Seuss Cafe. This is a great opportunity for our older students to get to know a younger student and practice reading! At our cafe, our "waiters" serve Dr. Seuss books to K-3 classes. Many classroom teachers have other reading activities in their classroom during this week, including parent readers and "Read 'n Feeds". This year, the Dr. Seuss cafe will be the week of February 27th-March 2nd. Read Across America Day is officially March 2nd, which is Dr. Seuss's birthday! If you like to bake, we are always looking for parent volunteers to bake tasty treats while the cafe is open!
